Der Band zeichnet die aussere und innere Geschichte der Akademie, der Schule Platons, bis in die Zeit Ciceros (und daruber hinaus bis zur offiziellen Schliessung im Jahr 529 n. Chr.) nach und untersucht vor allem die Frage, welche Kenntnis man im 1. Jh. v. Chr. von dem hatte, was Platon und seine Schuler gelehrt hatten, d. h. welches das Fundament des Wissens war, auf dem der in der fruhen Kaiserzeit auflebende Platonismus sich erhob. Dorrie kommt zu dem Ergebnis, dass 'die (...) The articles in this Festschrift for the leading German expert on Kant, Norbert Hinske, show how richly productive this has been for scholars. What is particular significant for the history of Kant's life and development, which has to be completely rewritten in this regard, is a newly discovered letter, reprinted in facsimile for the first time, from J. This article investigates three major contexts in which Henry of Ghent’s Summa quaestionum ordinariarum was received from the thirteenth to the fifteenth century. The study takes into account the material features of a group of relevant manuscripts of the Summa: Paris, where the Summa was copied and annotated by Godfrey of Fontaines and his socii; the Dominican convent in Bologna at the beginning of the fourteenth century, to which Aimericus de Placentia gave a copy of the Summa corrected against the (...) very manuscript of Godfrey of Fontaines; the Roman Papal Court, where the Summa attracted the special attention of the humanist Pope Nicholas V, who employed the manuscript from the Bolognese convent for producing new copies of the work. In this study, I endeavour to present a late-medieval history of the Summa as a book, and to contribute to the debate about the mutual relationships among some of the most important witnesses of the text. Herophilus, a contemporary of Euclid, practiced medicine in Alexandria in the third century B.C., and seems to have been the first Western scientist to dissect the human body.
